Chris and Lisa Preston have built Amuri Estate Retreat as an environmentally sustainable venture. Sharing a love of the outdoors, the land and its history, they continue to study the area and willingly discuss their knowledge with guests.
Chris is a born and bred New Zealander, and has a business leadership background. One of his many passions is exploring New Zealand's many Natural Parks. |
Lisa comes from North America though has resided in New Zealand since 1988. Possessing a background in Sales and Marketing her real passion is people. She has travelled many parts of the world both by land and sea, and decided to remain in New Zealand after spending 4 years exploring the Atlantic and Pacific in a vintage wooden yacht. |

Sustainability
Lisa and Chris’s philosophy of sustainable living is driven by their beliefs. Amuri Estate Retreat already operates within a living sustainable business model that would be aspirational to many 5-star accommodation providers.
The vision of having guests stay and the property showcasing a living example of sustainable living to a comfortable standard to high-end consumers evolved early. Amuri Estate Retreat is providing upscale tourist accommodation that has, as two of its points of difference, a working olive grove and sustainable land management practices in place e.g. recycling of waste & water, composting food scraps, mulching, limited use of chemicals inside & outside.

Environmental Statement
At Amuri Estate Retreat we work hard to support this beautiful area and to add to its uniqueness, diversity, and cultural heritage.
The sustainability of our actions will be an ongoing journey, which will improve over time and with experience and knowledge.
We currently practice and are continuing to develop long-term actions that are in keeping with our belief that we are simply caretaking this land for future generations. |
